Charitable IRA Rollover - Overview

Some good news for many of your donors. Congress extended the IRA Charitable Rollover provision in 2011. This provision allows taxpayers over 70½ to make tax-free distributions from their IRAs (Individual Retirement Accounts) directly to charity.

The legislation also sets December 31, 2011 as the new expiration date for the extension of the IRA Charitable Rollover. However, it is widely anticipated that it will be extended again beyond 2011 albeit late in the year as seems the habit for this gift’s renewal by Congress.
