Why Prepare Endowment Use and Management Policies?
• Policies improve communications with the public, members, and new appointees to boards and committees.
Endowment policies provide an opportunity for an organization to communicate how it uses the funds entrusted to it and to indicate how additional funds are used. When integrated with the strategic plan, well-defined policies will help with implementing the vision of the organization.
Suggestions for Encouraging Planned Gifts in the Local Church
It is suggested that a permanent committee meet periodically to be sure the church is being intentional about planned giving. A report semi-annually to the Session will also be helpful. That committee can create a year long calendar to spread out and pace as many as possible of those suggestions from below which fit a particular church.

Spending Endowment Funds: A Case Study
By Richard T. Merriman
My assignment is to speak about spending endowment funds. The best way to discuss this topic is to give a case study: it will probably come as no surprise to you that I have chosen Bryn Mawr Presbyterian church for the discussion today.
Premise:

Both the giving and the receiving generations are in great need of assistance in this transfer.
